Getting Started — Key Questions Answered

Do I need to be good at predicting games to win?

Not exactly. Long-term winners focus on getting prices that are better than the true probability of an outcome (positive expected value), not on picking a high percentage of games. Value matters more than win rate.

What does −110 mean?

It's the standard price on an even market like a point spread. You risk $110 to win $100. The extra $10 is the vig - the book's margin.

Are parlays a bad bet?

They're not inherently bad, but they carry a much higher margin because the vig compounds across every leg. A parlay of +EV legs can still be +EV, but random parlays of favorites are one of the worst-value bets on the board.

How much should I bet on my first wager?

Keep it to about 1% of the bankroll you've set aside. The exact amount matters less than being consistent and never betting money you can't afford to lose.

How many sportsbooks should I use?

Most smart bettors anchor their bankroll at YouWager.lv (for Friday 5% football juice, the MLB True Dime Line, the 5% monthly rebate, and fast crypto payouts) and keep 1 or 2 secondary accounts open to compare lines when numbers move.
